Milon
Indoor Hall "Croesus Persis" |
Capacity: 1,200 |
Location:
This indoor hall is located in the Nea Smyrni district, approximately
4 km south of the centre of Athens. It is built right next to the
Nea Smyrni Stadium,
as it lies behind its east stand.
The best way to get there is to use the tram (lines 4 or 5). Get off at "Megalou Alexandrou" stop, which is on the main street of Nea Smyrni, Eleftheriou Venizelou Avenue. Head south and turn right at the first street you'll come across (Vasiliou Tou Megalou Str). The hall lies 300m from that point. |
Built in: 1968 |
Home of: Milon B.C. (Local Amateur League) |
More
data: The plot of land now occupied by the hall hosted Milon's
open air sports facilities from as early as 1938. The indoor hall
was built in 1968 and is named after an old player of Milon, who then
served for many years as the club's General Manager.
Milon Indoor Hall may be very small, but its design is exceptional, at least in Greece. The way it is built is quite unique and eye-catching, even though it is almost half a century old. Its most distinctive feature are without a doubt the curved lines that dominate every part of the building. It should be noted that Milon Indoor Hall hosted the 1978 Weightlifting Junior World Championships. The hall is owned by AONS Milon amateur club. |
