Kastoria Stadium |
Capacity: 8,000 (seated) |
Location: |
The
stadium is located in Kastoria, in western Macedonia (190 km from
Thessaloniki and 575 km from Athens). This picturesque city is served
by an airport, 10 km to the south.
|
The
stadium itself is located north-west from the city centre, on the
road that leads to Florina. As you enter Kastoria from the south,
you must go straight ahead, not
|
making
any diversions. You will eventually get to a point where the road
splits in two. The roadsigns point right towards "Centre"
and left to "Florina, Stadium". You must of course turn
left and after a beautiful drive of 1 km with the lake on your right
you will get to the stadium.

More
data: Kastoria Municipal (formerly "National") Stadium
has one big stand and a 9-lane olympic athletics track around the
pitch. It is not in a very good condition, especially regarding the
maintanance of its interior areas. There has been talk about the future
installation of plastic seats on a greater part of the stand and also
the construction of a roof. The year 2002 saw, however, the installation
of floodlights on four pillars that allow night games to be played.
Finally, note that Kastoria Stadium hosted the six matches of a group
in the second qualifying round of the 2003 UEFA Under-17 Championship.
The stadium is owned by the Municipality of Kastoria. |
Many thanks to Mr Dimitris Koutsis, editor of Kastoria local newspaper "Sentra", for his kind offer of the two last photos and also his help with much of the information on this page. |
