Akratitos Stadium "Yannis Pathiakakis" |
Capacity: 4,944 (seated) |
Location:
|
The stadium is located in Ano Liossia, a district about 12 km north
of the centre of Athens. The best way to get there by car
is to use Attiki Odos, the Athens ring road. Leave the motorway at
exit #6 and head north through Filis Avenue to Ano Liossia. After
2 km you will see green-coloured signs pointing left to "Akratitos
Stadium". Turn left into Zinonos Street (there is a half-finished
church at the corner) and you will reach the stadium after 500m.
|
You
may of course also use a bus. B12 is your best choice
(board it at Marni Street, near the Archaelogical Museum). After a
rather long ride (it could take up to an hour), get off at the stop
named "23rd Filis" and you will be only 500m away from the
stadium. Just cross Filis Avenue into Zinonos Street (the one with
the church at the corner mentioned before) and walk to the stadium.

Built in: 1965 (Latest redevelopment in 2001) |
Record attendance: 4.025 (AEK FC vs Panathinaikos FC - on 7/4/2004) |
Home of: Akratitos FC (Local Amateur League) |
More
data: The stadium was named after Yannis Pathiakakis in early
2002. He was the coach of Akratitos, who died on the pitch during
training. Pathiakakis holds an important place in the history of the
club, as he led them to succesive promotions from the lower amateur
divisions to the professional leagues.
|
The
stadium has today a totally different look than it had before the
summer of 2001. Up until then, it only had one roofed stand
(north), that could hold 1,000 spectators. The promotion of Akratitos
to the 1st Division meant that the stadium needed to be expanded.
As a result, the following were built:
- the south stand, which is partly roofed (capacity: 1,878) - the east stand, which is usually allocated to away fans (capacity: 1,490) - expansions left and right of the old north stand (total new capacity: 1,576) There are plans for the construction of one more stand on the west, similar to the eastern one. |
The stadium is owned by the Municipality of Ano Liossia |
