Aharnaikos Stadium |
Capacity: 4,450 (seated) |
Location: |
The
stadium is located in Aharnes (also spelled Acharnes but known
to many people as Menidi), a district about 12 km north of
the centre of Athens. The best way to get there by car
is to use Attiki Odos, the Athens orbital road. Leave the motorway
at exit #7 and head north through Dimokratias Avenue to Aharnes. You
will reach the town centre after about 1.5 km.
|
The
road will now bend to the right. 200m after that you must turn right
again into Philadelphias Street (it leads to "Nea Philadelphia")
and pass over the rails. As soon as you've crossed the small bridge,
turn right into Thiveou Street and you will reach the stadium after
300m.
You may of course also use the bus. C9 (board it at Halkokondyli Street, near Omonia Square) stops at the Aharnes town hall on Philadelphias Street. The stadium is only 100m from there. Another option is to use the train. Go to central Larissis Station in Athens, board any of the northbound suburban trains and get off at Aharnes. The stadium is approximately 900m away from the train station. For your convenience, regardless of the mode of transport you will choose, have a look at the map provided above. It should make things much easier. |

More
data: Aharnaikos Stadium (officially "Aharnes Municipal Stadium")
has two stands, a large north and a smaller south one. The latter
has a strange triangular shape due to the lack of space at that side
of the ground. The stadium started to acquire its present form in
1978, when the central section of the north stand was built. The south
stand was constructed in 1983 and the rest of the north stand was
completed in 1987. The stadium is today in a rather "acceptable"
condition, compared of course to most of the other stadia in this
division. It has plastic seats on the central part of the north main
stand. This section is also covered by a roof. Floodlights have been
installed, although this is not evident in the photos.
THe stadium is owned by the Municipality of Aharnes. |
